Bridge to the Cloud – the offer for those who want to take things slowly
Microsoft is extending its offer until 31 December 2022 (previously until 30 June 2022) and can then be used for a term of up to 4 years (1 year regular + max. 3 year extension).
Who is it for?
It is aimed at existing Dynamics customers with
- Active licences for Business Central On Premise or Dynamics NAV
- the desire to migrate to the cloud by the end of the offer period.
At the end of the offer period, the registered customers switch completely to CSP licensing and the Microsoft Enhancement Plan is terminated.
How is the offer structured
You currently pay an annual enhancement fee to Microsoft for your on-premise installation (Dynamics 365 Business Central or Dynamics NAV). We offer you the following offer :
We convert your active Enhancement Plan (EP) or the fees (EG) of your on-premise system into discounted cloud licences.
This gives you full access to Dynamics 365 Business Central Cloud, which you can use to its full extent. Parallel to your current system.
Cost example and savings
Business Central On Premise
What does that mean? Let’s look at the whole thing using an example:
- Company ABC currently has 5 users working with Business Central On Premise.
- The costs per user amount to 1,500.00€.
- The annual enhancement fee (EG) of 16% is also added to the total licence costs.
- The “Bridge to Cloud” offer requires that you convert this enhancement fee (viewed monthly) into cloud licences.
- A cloud licence costs 59.00€ per user.
- With the “Bridge to Cloud” offer, you receive a 60% discount on these licences.
Business Central | On Premise |
---|---|
User | 5 |
Licence costs/user | 1.500,00 € |
Total licence costs | 7.500,00 € |
EG annual | 1.200,00 € (corresponds to mtl. 100,00€) |
Business Central | Cloud |
---|---|
User | 5 |
Licence costs/user | 59,00 € |
Total licence costs | 295,00€ |
60% Discount on licences | 177,00 € |
Total licence costs after discount deduction | 118,00 € |
Let’s compare the total licence costs:
On Premise | Cloud | |
User licence costs ings. | 7.500,00 € | 118,00 € |
We have this in mind: The “Bridge to Cloud” offer requires at least the monthly enhancement fee to be converted into cloud licences.
- monthly EG (On Premise): 100,00 €
- Total licence costs after discount deduction (cloud): 118,00€
So that fits. Because the monthly licence costs of 118.00€ are higher than the current monthly enhancement fee.
More users in the new system?
Business Central
Company ABC needs more users. Of course, these will also be charged at a 60% discount.
Dynamics NAV
Company XYZ is currently still working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and would like to take advantage of the Bridge to Cloud offer. However, they are still missing licences that they would like to acquire. Company XYZ can rejoice: they have the opportunity to request free cloud users. This is because the licence model changes at a ratio of 1:3 with an upgrade, meaning that company XYZ receives 3 BC users for 1 NAV user.
Legacy system | Costs per additional user in BC Cloud |
---|---|
NAV | 0,00 € |
BC On Premise | 23,60€ (60% discount on 1 Cloud user) |
PLEASE NOTE
As tempting and convincing as the offer is, it is only worthwhile at the right time!
After all, it only makes sense to accept the offer when your maintenance contract expires. You should therefore come back to it shortly before the end of the on-premise maintenance period. After all, the payment method changes from annual (maintenance contract) to monthly (licences).
Let’s look at the whole thing again using an example:
- Company 123 has already paid the annual fee in January.
- She is considering taking up the offer now, in July.
- Does that make sense? No, then that would be a double burden for the remaining second half of the year.
- This is because the advance payment of the maintenance fee for the entire year was paid in January
- In addition, from July there would be another monthly fee for the remaining months of the year
- It is not possible to convert the annual advance payment of the maintenance fee retrospectively.
What are the advantages of the “Bridge to Cloud” offer?
- You can use 2 systems at the same time:
- Your current On Premise to work
- the new cloud model to familiarise yourself with and for the first few months of migration
- No impairment of the functionality of your on-premise system
- retain the enhancement benefits for your on-premise licence during the entire offer period*
*At the end of the offer period, you then switch completely to CSP* licensing and no longer receive any enhancement benefits for your on-premise solution.
