Microsoft recently presented the plans for the first release Wave 2025 1 of Dynamics 365, which will be implemented from April to September 2025. This update brings with it numerous innovations and improvements aimed at optimising business processes and increasing efficiency. Dynamics 365 Business Central will take centre stage, but other products in the Dynamics 365 family will also receive significant updates.

Dynamics 365 Business Central

Business Central is aimed at small and medium-sized companies and is receiving intelligent AI agents in this wave to improve efficiency and automation. These agents can perform complex tasks, create reports, automate processes and optimise order creation using natural language processing. The focus is also on improvements in the areas of production, sustainability and electronic documents. Integration with Shopify and Dynamics 365 Field Service will also be expanded to ensure seamless data exchange and optimised workflows.

Dynamics 365 Sales

In Dynamics 365 Sales, AI-powered features are being introduced to help salespeople achieve their goals and increase productivity. The “Copilot” and other agents improve performance and simplify tasks to expand the pipeline, sharpen strategies and accelerate deals. A redesigned user interface ensures that sales reps always know the best next steps. Automated research, continuous tracking and prioritised tasks provide ongoing guidance so you can focus on the right actions to succeed and grow your business.

Dynamics 365 Customer Service

Dynamics 365 Customer Service expands the capabilities of agents in case and knowledge management as well as AI-driven routing. The co-pilot functions for customer service employees and supervisors are also being expanded, with a focus on increasing productivity.

Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management

This module improves autonomy by integrating intelligence, automation and analytics to increase the organisation’s productivity and adaptability. The upgrade increases operational efficiency by automating supplier communication, improves demand planning accuracy with cell-specific explainability and generative insights, and utilises AI in manufacturing to align production data with actual processes.

Dynamics 365 Human Resources

This module improves intelligence, automation and analytics throughout the hiring process to increase productivity and promote organisational agility. It introduces AI-driven assessments and integrations with external job boards, including LinkedIn. In addition, AI-first solutions and automation will improve the performance and people management experience for employees and HR business partners.

Dynamics 365 Commerce

Dynamics 365 Commerce improves the in-store experience by providing a mobile point-of-sale system that reduces in-store hardware requirements and increases sales conversions. The improvements to the payment connector enable modern payment methods, further reducing hardware requirements and offering customers more purchasing options. In addition, standardised pricing across channels allows retailers to set more complex pricing structures to remain competitive.

When will the Release Wave 2025 1 be available?

The general availability of these functions will begin on 1 April 2025, with regional deployments starting on this date. Early access to selected features will be available from 3 February 2025, allowing companies to test and validate the new features in advance.
